Artifact(s) Selected:
Artifact Reflection
Within this course we examined adult learning and staff development. We engaged in several learning activities, but of those I selected the two that impacted me the most. My first artifact is the professional development plan that my team and I drafted for campus-wide implementation. Our plan focuses on the use of technology by teachers for instructional and student learning enhancement. The goal of the plan is to have educators learn more about emerging technologies and have them implement them in their classrooms. We want them to find innovative ways to enrich instruction and student learning.
My second artifact is the reflective essay I wrote after conducting a Collegial Reading Group in my campus. I sent out an electronic inventation to som staff members to invite them to participate a professional development reading group. Participation was voluntary and members would be able to remove themselves from the program whenever they would like. I had three teachers that were highly instreated in participating in the gorup. I selected an article that dealt with the use of media projects in the classroom, and its impact on academics. After reading the article, I faciliated discussions with the group on the reading and of how they could implement similar initiatives in their classrooms. All teachers wanted to try using iMovie in their classroom and I went aheand and provided tech support for those projects.
In this course I learned a lot about developing staff members and presenting them with the training they need to achieve the goals that we set for them. With the right amount of training and administrative support, there are no limits to what our teachers can learn, and implement in their classroom.
