Instructor: Dr. Karen Jones

Artifact(s) Selected:

Artifact  Reflection

During this course we explored the legal aspects of education and examined current legal issues in education. As part of your group work, team members were assigned a case study dealing with current issues in education. My team was assigned bilingual and immigrant education. Our job was to analyze and reflect on the issues presented in the case, and develop a presentation to convey the facts to fellow classmates. Part of the assignment also included developing questions to promote group discussion. The discussion we faciliated involved examining legal implications, applicable laws, and possible solutions.

My second artifact highlights my ability to develop an incident report. As an administrator, there will be times in which staff members will demonstrate behavior that is unacceptable according to professional standards. This expereince allowed me to analyze a scenario that was provided to me, and then draft ideas of how I would deal with the situation. In this particular report the staff member had been addressed several times on being tardy and she wasn't showing any improvement. This overall experience has led me to obtain a better understanding of the legal processes and implications that are part of education.
